the ad factor

My favorite in 2008. Not in the order of ranks. Lets say whatever comes to mind first. I might miss out on a lot of good ones. Mentioning the ones i can recollect.
ING India (mere desh mein paisa sirf paisa nahin hai)
I like this ad simply because it uses the concept of money in a truly Indian context without pushing hard. All of us have atleast witnessed one of the featured scenes in our lives to agree that 'paisa sirf paisa nahin hai'. http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=P7x39unWHOY
TATA capital
Another one on the same lines as ING. I like it because even a lay man would understand what the company is trying to show as their USP. Me for example am quite a dimwit when it comes to financial subject. Infact i might end up remembering the company name because of the simple ad.
IDBI Bank (banking for all)
This one totally for the cute elephant. An exaggerated example but cant deny the cute factor.

Max New York Life (life Insurance) The first one in this series was the wife looking for her husband and calling out 'sanju..sanju). Totally fell for it the acting, the house, the background sound especially the last suspense building ambulance sound. http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=BzUP1SkZjFA

Karo zyada ka iraada:The next one was the jingle. nazar ko kya chahiye khwab thode zyada. khwab ko kya chahiye rang thode zyada. karle tu zyada ka irada The boy admiring the the bike. The guy on the bike admiring the guy with a girl on bike and so on. forming a viscious cycle. And the lines of the jingle very apt to all the scenes. http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=4haEYOZ9dTE&feature=related

This one what can i say again very well acted (especially the father) and picturized. And how did that kid managed to get those expressions and whoever dubbed for him was even better. http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=ll5yaLbZ6VQ&feature=related

HDFC Standard Life I totally fell for this one. Hoping someday my dear spouse also has some pretty plans for me in our old age. http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=yyLt0zfLV5I

In the same series i love the father daughter one where the daughter writes a cheque for her dad to buy a new car and he says 'beti bhi badi ho gayi, car bhi' total emotional blackmail. http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=VXdGSD0vc-Y&feature=related

There are so many ads I can just go on and on. Like Asian paints (har ghar kuch kehta hai). I loved the lines yahan rotiyaan ginke nahin banti..yahan India cricket mein harte harte jeet jata hai. Union Bank the father getting taxi for son in the wee hours. Beautiful emotions, for us suckers. Mirinda (thodi paagalpanti bhi zaroori hai) Amrutanjan(just for laughs kind of style videos), mentos (the animated one where the monkey ate the mentos and evolved into man and the donkey is still the ol donkey) centerfresh(the son showing his report card to father after failing upteenth time) Havells (I don't know if they were 2007/2008 but i loved all of them the kid with electric shock hair to the monk in tibet to bijli the item no' to the son innovating with havells to help mother cook chappati) Womens Horlicks ad featuring Konkana Sen thats a selfish favorite because everything that woman(konkana) does i fall for it. Virgin mobile (the girl pretending to be gay and the boys trying to fool a middle age guy by pretending a hotline call)

Timex (conversation starters) Oh i loved this one just for the coolness of it and yea the female lead model. http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=0FxN7RfjO5w

Motorola Yuva This was really a sweety the father imitating his son using his motorola phone and the reaction he gets from his wife and son who him do so. Was picture perfect. http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=gscFb5fJ2h0

Loved the soundtrack of the three ads below

Limca http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=rjsgj4rCN8w

Sprite Xpress pack http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=rzthmtAK58s

Maruti suzuki http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=LbX8e4seGoY

Not to forgetthe biggies this year

Idea for its innovative idea from the caste system of India to the education to the billboards in Bombay of mera no' mumbai ka toh meh mumbai ka hitting where it hurts most (Raj Thackrey)

Airtel the best of all the emotional ads and bringing out the best couple on screen (Vidya Balan and Madhavan)

TATA Sky Aamir beats everyone again with his acting and the surprise pairing of another very cute onscreen couple Aamir and Gul Panag.
